Wet dreams...

No, it's not what you were thinking!

Has any of you (meaning the 4-legged creatures) had an "accident" while dreaming? Last night Bosley was in a deep sleep and we were all playing clue. We heard water running... Do you hear? What's that? Is that water? B-O-S-L-E-Y!!!! He had no idea. His eyes were rolled back in his head, he was in la-la land chasin' rabbits. In fact, we all had to yell his name multiple times before he woke up and once he did he was in a total state of confusion. Kinda like when your kid wakes you up at 3 am but you think the knocking at the door is coming from the dream you were just having... Once he got up, he did not understand what had happened, why he was wet or why we were yelling. Does this happen often?

Hey - it's me Bosley

See me, huh? Do you see me? Huh? Huh? I'm singing the good boy song...

Oh, it was wonderful. I got to hang out with my sister all day. The sweet taste of freedom!
Mom & Dad are so proud of me. They say we are going to let the crate up, just in case today was a fluke, but come on, look at me... I'm a big boy now.

you have to wonder...

Ok, today is Bosley's house test... See we haven't been able to trust him "loose" in the house since we got him in October. We've tried... but when your dog gets GALLONS of water and carries them around with him, you have to wonder. We are against the crate for the most part but when your dog is able to drag and dump a 30 lb. wooden storage truck by the tiestrap (which was installed because he learned how to open it) you have to wonder. When your dog goes into a storage closest and drags out old deer antlers, you have to wonder. When a dog is able to search and destroy an entire room full of strange items in 15 minutes (previous test), which takes you at least an hour to clean up, you have to wonder...

Since we know nothing about his history we have very little to go on. He was housebroken when we got him, and has been very good learning his yard boundaries. He's just so very curious.

I can only think what goes through Abbey's head when he's getting into stuff... "Wait till Mom & Dad see what you've done" or "That was Dad's only pair of sneakers" or "You youngin, when are you going to learn how good we've got it"

Here goes... I made an attempt to "Bosley-proof" before I left this morning.

Bosley's Second Class

Well I got stuck reporting on Bosley's second class. He's in "shut down mode." That's what mom & dad call it when he passes out... They tell me he did very well with the clicker, sit-stay, walking, down-stay. Thankfully he did not pee during class tonight. I hung out at home and caught up on some sleep. Gotta run, time for my beauty sleep.

This is so wrong.

Copied from the Brat Pack.

The Zoo Crew's Mom tipped us off to a situation going on right now. We're asking our friends to read the article and if you feel so inclined write a quick note about your feelings.

The story is about a dog who is legally living with his family in Chelsea. They are not breaking any of the building or city rules or regulations. The building board being led by Soledad O'Brien of CNN is taking the family to court to force them to "get rid" of Ugo, a Neopolitan Mastiff. Why, you ask? Well because of his "size, slobbering, shedding, drooling, gassiness and odors." By the way, she lives 3 FLOORS away from Ugo and his family. Not even our COMBINED smell could reach that far. Even if we ate beans and chili and rolled in our poop.

Come on friends, what if someone wanted to make us leave our family because we fart a lot? We'd all be homeless. Ugo's family is even taking him to a professional groomer three times a month to try to make the power-hungry board like him more...and offered to use the freight elevator so his farts wouldn't bother them. They said no. Hmm, wonder why? Maybe because then they wouldn't have something to complain about?

We're asking that if you think this is wrong for Ugo to be made to leave his family take a second and post this info on your blog plus send a note to CNN.

Here's the article:

More pictures of Ugo with his family...

Write to CNN and let them know what you think of their great reporter:

Pass it on in the name of farting, smelly dogs everywhere!!
We have rights!!

Well Wishes

We'd like to send out some well wishes for our Grandpa. He's a dog-loving, good-hearted man who we always have butt-wiggles for. Mom says he's gonna have surgery today. We really hope everything goes well for him.

Bath Time

As I saw on a few blogs, this weekend was a popular time for doggie baths. Abbey and Bosley are having a hard time this winter with dry skin. We were using oatmeal shampoo but that didn't seem to help. We bought some new shampoo that is medicated with aloe and got all lathered up. It worked well, pertaining to the itching, buy now they smell like sulphur (one of the ingredients). Don't know what is worse, stinky dogs or sulfur dogs... I have also have been giving them a teaspoon of fish oil every morning and Abbey takes Hip & joint vitamins. And we do run the humidifier at night.

Does anyone out there have any other suggestions?

Dog Logic

Got this in an email. Thought it was neat. Food for thought on a Sunday evening...

Abbey

Hi, I'm Abbey. My mom rescued me from the shelter in 1998. The folks there believe I was about 2 years old. My previous owners had kept me chained up in a barn till they decided to move. Mom was moving to college and I became her everything. I was a lot of work at first. I was rather puny and I had a lot of separation issues. Then mom met this man who had a dog too. Soon the four of us all lived together. Tucker was my main man till he developed a large growth in his belly. He left us October 2008. Things have changed around here. Now we have a new guy (don't tell anyone I really do like him), but I'll let him introduce himself.

Bosley

And I'm Bosley. I also came from the same shelter as my new sister and previous brother. Supposedly I was a stray, but with my bright white teeth, healthy figure and charming personality, my new parents find it hard to believe. They think I am an English lab, around 2 years old. I am a lover, a gotta-be-touching you kind of dog with a bit of a wild side, although I am learning to control that. I was at the shelter for about a month when Dad came in to see me, prompted by mom's use of petfinder.com. I have been pretty good since getting to my new home. I have some separation issues as well, but they seem to be getting better. And I am very smart, currently enrolled in obedience classes too.

My class rocks!

Just letting everyone know I did good in class (except for the little accident during the beginning.) I took a little tip from my buddy Chester to find something to pee on, so I did. The lady beside Dad said it was disgusting... I even got to show everydog in class how to sit. And I overheard Mom and Dad saying that they are going to let me go back next week. Hooray!

First "day" at school

Here it is, my first "day" of school. I just arrived in October and I'm already being shipped out to learn more "tricks." What more do you want? I sit, shake, kiss, sometimes I even stay and get down. Oh well those liver training treats sure are good and I'm sure Dad will give me lots. He can't resist my eyes...

I have my kong and am ready to travel. Wait till they get a load of me in Obedience 101...

My sister is going to stay at home to get some much needed rest. Dad is taking me and Mom is going to come too when she doesn't have the other kids to look after.

I'll try to let you all know how I did.

Our pound puppies

Introducing our dogs. Bosley is the handsome black lab who, came from the shelter only a few months ago, and has brightened our home after the death of our beloved Tucker. Abbey is the expressive and pretty furball laying next to her new friend.

They get along well, although not like her and Tucker. And I'm trying hard not to compare, I just think she misses the play fighting. Tucker and Abbey did this on a regular basis and she so desperately tries to get Bosley to do it too, she even bites at his legs. He's figured out at 2 years of age he is much faster than her 12 year old hips can take. He often sprints circles around her while she 'arfs' at him to play... If anything, it is quite entertaining to watch.

Bosley starts school next week. We will see how he does. For the most part he is quite well behaved, just a bit stubborn.

If only we could bite others to get them to do what we want... haha

January 6

Happy eleventh birthday to my stepdaughters. Wow, I've been with them since they were 8 months old...

A lot has changed since then.

And now the roller-coasters of puberty have set in. Oh what fun.

They are getting settled into their new rooms. I had no idea how needed that was for everyone's peace of mind. I'll have to post some photos of their rooms once everything gets cleaned up from the small plumbing disaster we had over the weekend.

Headaches

I HATE HEADACHES. Why are these things always at the worst time. So inconvenient and so utterly crippling...
